DVD discs and the increasingly popular Blu-ray discs have become a near dominant movie format and for people who are holding onto their old VHS tapes the best idea is not to keep the VHS tape but to find a DVD version of the movie since the quality on the disc will be so much better. Rarely is a movie not available on DVD when it's already been released on VHS so finding an old movie that's been sitting on a VHS tape for years shouldn't be hard. It may also be a good idea to make a DVD copy just to back up a library.
